That was in 1958 and the company was named after his partner, David Sherman. The company was only renamed in 2006 in dedication to the founder of the corporation. For nearly 50 years, the company has acquired several brands. They also started to create their own line of drinks. In 1983, Luxco acquired the distribution rights in US for Admiral Nelson Rum. Later, they were able to acquire the whole brand name as well. The company was first based in the Caribbean – the land where Rum is known to have originated. On the other hand, the name Admiral Nelson was after the great Naval Hero of Britain. It was because of Admiral Nelson’s tour around the globe that he stumbled upon this great drink. With his help, rum became known drink in Great Britain, eventually defeating Gin as the most popular drink.

Admiral Nelson Rum comes in four different flavors. Each of them has different alcohol concentration and recommended add-ons. The famous of the four flavors is the Spiced Rum. It only has 35% alcohol content (most has 40%). As the name suggests, this type of rum was made with strong spices for better taste. Coconut Rum is a fun drink as it has the aroma of a coconut.
