Gin is usually made redistilling white grain spirit and flavoring it with juniper berries. Such Gin is called Distilled Gin. Compound Gin on the other hand is made by flavoring neutral grain spirit with juniper berries and is not redistilled. This gin can be considered as a flavored Vodka. Bafferts Gin was created to attract the Vodka drinking community to the gin market. Bishop Wines and Spirits announced its discovery in its London distillery and disclosed that it was being handcrafted with a closely guarded recipe that dates back to the 1800s.

Bafferts Gin is considered to be 40% abv / 80 proof and is distilled in London distillery since the year 2000. Its recipe relates way back to the 19th Century and is made using triple distillation process without using excess of botanicals in it. It uses only four botanicals namely juniper, coriander, orange peels and lemon peel which is far less than used by any other gin. Although it uses far less botanicals than any other gin, yet the taste of the gin is so crisp and pure that many martini lovers prefer Baffer’s Gin to Vodka in their favorite Martini Glass.
