The company is used to be owned by the Barnard Family and for years, it has created different drinks to cater to the need of the island and other parts of the Caribbean. Established in 1922, it has been a family owned company until in 2005, the rest of the family shares has been acquired by CLICO Holdings Barbados Ltd. Even it doesn’t have to acknowledge the family tradition, the formula is already acknowledged in the market, CLICO has continued the family brand and made it even better.

Bounty Rum is one of the 21 products of St. Lucia. It’s a smooth rum made of molasses with 40% alcohol. Latest statistics shows that Bounty Rum is the most popular drink in the St. Lucia Island when it comes to Rums. That’s why it’s being imported into US so that it could be appreciated in other counties at the same time.

The rum comes in with a little bit of color since it’s been aged in oak barrels for at least three years. The rum is created from pure sugarcane just like most of the rums. But its climb to the top is its simplicity. It’s not pricey and the taste for a rum is definitely great.

The rum comes in a very simple bottle like most of the rums or vodkas. It has a simple cover compared to other high end products. Its brand name could be easily seen and behind it is the island of St. Lucia.

One sip of this rum and you’ll understand why it’s one of the well loved rums in the St. Lucia. The initial taste is warm and very smooth. Slowly the heat sets it because of the alcohol. If you’re expecting a taste of stinging alcohol, you’ll be surprised that nothing at all could be felt. It’s quite a deception but this sweet rum is quite deceptive as it is smooth flowing. There are some bitterness in the taste so that’s that obvious disadvantage of the flavor.

Bounty Rum is essentially a cheap rum with a great taste. It’s one of the best tasting rums with its price. It’s even better but if you compare it with other brands with the same price, it’s definitely a catch. However, comparing Bounty Rum with other three year old rums, it lags really far behind. If the St. Lucia could have stayed the rum for a year or two, it could have been at par with some of the best.

Mixing it with other drinks, Bounty Rum is definitely takes up a notch. You can add a little bit of lime in this rum and everything is changed.

Generally Bounty Rum is not your high-end drink but could definitely be among your choice of rums when it comes to casual drinking. It’s ability to mix in with other drinks is remarkable making it a perfect everyday drink.
