Gordons Gin

Gordon's is a brand name of gin. It is produced in United Kingdom and also in New Zealand under license in New Zealand apart from several other past British territories. The top markets for Gordon's gin is Great Britain, Greece, the US, and Africa. It is possessed by the famous multi-national alcohol corporation, Diageo Plc.

Gordon's was developed and produced in London in the year 1769 by a Scottish man, Alexander Gordon. He was the man responsible for opening a distillery in Clerkenwell as well. The Special London Dry Gin which he developed turned out to be extremely successful, and till date its recipe remains unchanged. Triple-distilled, the Gordon’s gin contains coriander seeds, juniper, and angelica roots, apart from some other botanicals.

Gordon’s Special London Dry Gin is a gin of the best quality. It uses nothing but the purest ingredients, and it also does not use any of the sugar that is commonly added to inferior quality gin for masking the unbalanced and rough spirit.

In fact, Gordon’s gin is distilled three times to ensure extra dryness and also purity. When this gin was launched, it became an overnight sensation. They make use of berries and whole spices instead of using cheap extracts, and then mature them for eighteen long months to attain that unique and sophisticated Gordon’s taste.

The somewhat bitter taste was made more pleasant by adding some soda water and sweetened lemon juice. As the product hit the home market of UK, many old Indian people took to this rather mysterious drink, and soon it became the world’s first and best mixer.

The unique and distinctive factor of Gordon's Gin is that it holds the Royal Warrant for gin. The secret recipe for Gordon's is not known to many people, in fact to be specific; it is with just 12 people in the world. This tradition has been maintained for over 200 years.

In the United Kingdom, Gordon's gin is being sold in a distinguishing green glass bottle, while in all the other markets it is being sold in a clear bottle that can be sometimes made of plastic. This mostly depends on the size. Apart from this, UK is the only market where you can get Gordon's gin at higher proofs than available in any other market. The formulation of gin has changed somewhat over the years. In 1950s it used to have significantly higher proof.

Apart from the main product line, the brand Gordon's also produces an aromatic gin, sloe gin, two Alco pop variants, vodka, Space and Spark etc.
