Jameson Irish Whiskey

Founded in 1780 at Dublin by John Jameson, The Jameson Irish Whisky’s Distillery is one amongst the oldest distilleries of Ireland. By investing in innovative latest manufacturing processes, Jameson’s established a new standard in whiskey making. Made from finest grains and maturated in superior quality casks, Jameson’s whiskey became popular worldwide for its distinctive quality. Overcoming the crisis after prohibition, the four distilling units left in the Republic of Ireland joined hands to become Irish Distilleries and Jameson’s was one of them. As on today, Jameson Irish Whiskey is one of the fastest growing Irish whiskey brand in the world.

Jameson’s has a combination of both traditional pot still whiskey and the elegant grain whiskey. The pot still whiskey is made from malted and unmalted barley and pure water. The malted barley is dried in closed kilns which gives the whiskey a natural smooth taste. Malted and unmalted barley is milled to produce powder like substance and then mixed with hot water in Mash tubs. This converts the starch in barley into fermentable sugar and then the mash is fermented to produce alcohol. The wash so produced is heated in copper pot stills and distilled thrice to result in a superior smoother quality. The distilled whiskey is matured in oak casks for years and finally blended and bottled for distribution.

The production process of grain whiskey is almost same but it uses corn and malted barley with pure water and whiskey is produced by cooking the mixture of these crushed grains and water and fermenting them. It however has higher alcohol content than the traditional pot still whiskey.

The unique premium brands of Jameson’s whiskey are Redbreast, Jameson 12 year old, Jameson 18 year old and Midleton Very Rare. Redbreast is the traditional pot still Irish whiskey which is matured for a minimum of 12 years and offers a blend of spicy, oily, sherry and toasted notes.

Jameson 12 year is also a Pot still whisky matured for a period of 12 years having a nutty flavor and mild woody undertones. Jameson 18 years old is matured for a minimum of 18 years to give it a wonderfully mellow and smooth taste and offering lingering carrying notes of wood, spice and toffee to the very end. The Midleton very rare is a creation of the Master Distiller who presides over during its distillation. It is the smoothest Irish whiskey having a unique taste and a long satisfying finish with a touch of toasted oak wood.

Owing to its smoothness this whiskey is most popular amongst Mixologists and bartenders around the world as it offers a very fine spirit for mixing in cocktails and long drinks. Jameson Irish Whiskey is enjoyed in whatever form it may be.
