Ketel One was founded in Schiedem, Holland. Nolet Distillery concocted this product using one of the most intricate steps in getting the best flavored Vodka. Nolet distilled Ketel One using alembic copper pot stills. Instead of modern technology in filtering Vodka, Nolet has used charcoal to slowly filter and get the best flavor. Using only wheat to create Vodka, they have perfected their skills in getting things done. The distillery was founded in 1691. From the 1st day the company has been founded, they already started creating Ketel One. As of this writing, the company is still in family owned. The original owner, Joannes Nolet has passed on the leadership to the next generation of Nolets. Today, the management of Ketel One is under the 11th generation of Nolets making them one of the oldest family owned companies in Holland.

There are three different kinds of Ketel One Vodka. You can go for the regular, Citroen or the Jenever. Of course Ketel One Regular is the first of the Ketel One Vodkas. It has smoothly carved its way to be one of the preferred Vodkas around the world. The Ketel One Vodka Citroen was introduced to the public only in the 21st century. This Citron flavored vodka is geared for those who seek more flavors from their traditional Vodka. The Ketel 1 Jenever on the other hand, was produced almost the same time with the original Ketel One Vodka. Jenever is the traditional drink from the Netherlands and was one of the first products of Nolet Distillery. The drink is juniper flavored and is very strong in alcohol compared to other regular alcoholic drinks.

Ketel One is an 80 proof drink. That means 40% of the product is made of alcohol. For regular alcoholic drinks, you can immediately taste the burning sensation of alcohol. But for Ketel One, the experience is entirely different. On first sip, the burning sensation is not there. All you’ll have is the flavor of a vodka drink and slowly you’ll feel the flavor is heating up. The after effect of Ketel One is it gets you awake for hours.
