We may not know how Jimmy Buffet coined the word “Margaritaville” but that song has certainly led him to join the number of artists backing up a certain drink. Margaritaville became such a hit that in the year 2000; a tequila with the same name was made.

It was none other than Jimmy Buffet who commissioned the creation of this tequila and he personally chose the flavor of this tequila.

Along with the tequila, Jimmy Buffet successfully created a number of businesses with the name “Margaritaville.” He ventured the brand with Seagram Spirits and Margaritaville was launched in various bars. Soon enough, Margaritaville is now one of the high-end tequilas preferred by millions.

Margaritaville tequilas are created in Mexico. Using only fine agaves, creators of this tequila has followed the government regulations in creating great tequilas. All of the tequilas in Margaritaville are not created using factory distilleries but they are all hand made. Each batch are handcrafted by experienced makers of tequila. Just like most of the high-end makers of tequilas, Margaritaville only uses the best aged blue agaves – making sure this drinks is top of the line and could be at par with the best.

There are lots of Margaritaville out there. Each of them has different flavors to cater to the preference of every individual. These flavors basically remove the need for others to mix and match – the best flavor is already there. However, Margaritaville when stripped down of all the flavors is a clear colored tequila. It’s basically the same with other silver or “white” tequilas.

As all tequilas have their own personality that you can easily distinguish its flavor with other tequilas, that’s also true with Margaritaville. The distinguishing flavor of agave is there without the taste of alcohol. This is very surprising since this tequila is 40% alcohol. You won’t even feel the heat of alcohol even when it reaches your stomach. As it has been aged in just two months, it still has the raw flavor and the full flavor of the barrel is just not there. Eventually you will feel the heat but not from alcohol. You’ll feel the tingling sensation of the tequilas spiciness. Eventually the alcohol will take over but you’ll never know it. Even though it can’t reach the status of becoming one of the best tequilas in the country, it’s obviously a good drink when nothing else is there.

Margaritaville is basically made for mix and match. Taking it as it is without any flavor is not as good compared to other renowned tequila products. But their flavored tequilas are a good choice. You can also take the clear Margaritaville and create a great Bloody Mary mix.

Jimmy Buffet could have chosen a better tequila other than Margaritaville but its ability to blend in with other flavors is what margarita is all about. Because Margaritaville is all about mixing tequilas with other flavors, anything that gets out of Margaritaville is worth trying. It’s a drink that’s good as it is but better when mixed with other flavors.
