The company is based in Mexico and they were able to penetrate the US market in a very slow fashion. Somehow, Montezuma was able to get three varieties over and offer them to the US market. With different reviews from drinkers, it’s still hard to tell whether Montezuma will stay in the store shelves for good or will it become a hit for tequila fans. You can go for any variation and try their drink and it’s up to time if we’ll like it or not.
The first variation of Montezuma is the White Tequila Variation. The company dubs it as the second best tequila in the US market. It’s using the same technique like all other tequila makers. As a White Tequila it doesn’t really take time to make this variety. The distinctive part of this product is the packaging wherein you’ll see the ancient Aztec calendar. The calendar basically tells where the Montezuma tequilas come from. With the heritage that’s legendary somehow the White tequila of Montezuma could give us better things. As this was released out of distillery, it sure is to give some heat once tasted.
The next variation is the Montezuma Blue. This is basically the “rested” tequila of the Montezuma. The Blue is placed in an oak barrel for more than two months. Since it stays in the oak barrel you’ll be able to taste the distinct smooth flavor that the white doesn’t have. If you want smoothness in Montezuma, the blue version is your best bet. Plus the price is considerably good compared to other “rested” tequilas. It’s even better when it’s mixed to other products. It may not fare as good as the other rested tequilas products but it has great mixing ability you can bank on for good taste.
Last but not the least is the Montezuma gold. The oldest among the Montezuma products, you can compare this tequila to Anejo products. There are reviews that are not so good about this product. That’s only because tequila lovers already have tasted the more expensive brands. But if you compare this product to other tequilas with the same price range, you can bet on this product to stand out. The price range of Montezuma is geared for those who wanted to have something cheap and simple. You can enjoy a tequila this good at a great price.
One of the reasons why Montezuma don’t have any of the buzz it should have for years is because it’s pitted against other brands that came from Mexico. Most of the imported tequilas are created for the high end market but Montezuma is not one of them. This is your straight shot tequila that could be as cheap as you want. Comparing this to other high-end tequila is quite unfair. If you mix it up with other drinks, Montezuma is a tequila that you should be able to appreciate in no time.
