Patron Tequila

Currently, Patron bottles five distinct tasting varieties of tequila. The different types are Patron Reposado, Patron Silver, Patron Anejo and Gran Patron (this type is a high priced version that comes in both anejo and a silver tequila version). Additionally the Patron Spirits Company also markets Patron XO Cafe as a tequila and coffee blend which is made by Tequilas del Senor. The company also markets a triple sec called Patron Citronge. Gran Patron Burdeos Anejo was recently launched as a new ultra premium high end Tequila. This tequila is currently only available at very high end establishments or restaurants. The company plans to release this Patron to the public in September of 2007 at an estimated cost of over $700 per bottle. The Patron brand has become very popular in clubs and with nightlife.

History

Martin Crowley and John Paul Dejoria, a co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, founded the company in 1989 with the goal of producing a very high quality brand of tequila. The company uses 100% pure Waeber blue agave, which is grown on he hills of Jalisco Mexico. Following the lead of DeJoria and a former Seagram executive Ed Brown, the company built a distilling factory in Jalisco with master distiller Francisco Alcaretz. Patron Tequila has quickly risen to be the worlds number one premium tequila and frequently outsells its nearest competitor in the United States by eight. In 2004 the comapny sold more than 325,000 cases in the United States.

Pop Culture Allusions

The Patron brand is frequently mentioned in the lyrics of many songs. Additionally the brand is mentioned on numerous television shows including the Entourage series. Additionally, it can be found in many movies, for example Tom Cruise's character ordered it in the movie Vanilla Sky.
