The term “Royal Reserve†was made in commemoration when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited Canada in 1939. To commemorate this grandiose event, a drink was made for this special occasion was made by Samuel Bronfman. He was at that time, the president of the creators of the Royal Reserve.
Since the Royal Family visited Canada, it’s just natural that the drink will also originated in Canada. Two companies eventually made their own Royal Reserves. The original creator of Royal Reserve is still the same creating Royal Crown Reserves for decades. This alcoholic drink was created in the same year and this drink was only available in Canada. It was a known drink that no one in the US can taste unless they go to Canada. It was only exported to the US in 1964 – nearly 30 years after it was first made.
On the other hand, there’s Corby’s Royal Reserve. It’s not a copy of the Crown Royal Reserve but it’s also produced to commemorate the special even in Canada.
Both of these drinks are Canadian made. But there’s an obvious physical difference between two drinks. The Crown Royal Reserve’s bottle has the form of a crown while Corby’s looks like a regular rectangular bottle. You can easily notice this bottle with the Canadian Leaf Symbol in the neck and a Red Crown on top of the label.
Of the two Royal Reserves, the Crown Royal Reserve is deemed more prestigious and rare. The original Crown Royal Reserve is still in production in Canada using only the finest of grains processed in Manitoba, Canada. The company used to have their distillery in Waterloo, Canada but it was eventually closed in 1992.
The closure of Waterloo in 1992 became the first stage for the rare Crown Royal Extra Rare or Crown Royal XR. The next year, the facility was burned down, and there’s a little amount of alcoholic drink left in that facility. The company decided to keep it intact for years to be aged. In 2006, the Crown Royal XR was released. Each bottle of Crown Royal XR was numbered to keep track of how many bottles are left and released. Each bottle of Crown Royal Extra when released are priced at least $180 – ten times more than the regular alcoholic drink.
Corby on the other hand only has this simple bottle but it still a great drink to be enjoyed.
The Royal Crown is a very smooth drink. The start of the drink is rather strong but it goes down with a rather near perfect finish. No burning sensation there. The rye in both Royal Crown drink was made and aged perfectly.
This drink is perfect with Coca-Cola or other fruit drinks. Many recipes are made using this drink. Aged just in time and perfect with non alcoholic beverages, Royal Crown is worth every penny for a good drink.
