Svedka has been hyped for the past years since they were part of the news for sometime. For one, the company should have the sponsor of Lindsay Lohan’s 21st birthday party bash in Las Vegas.

They pulled out of the sponsorship because of Ms. Lohan’s alleged drunk driving accident two days before her birthday. That was added to an earlier controversy surrounding the company’s advertisement. The advertisement surrounds the idea that the company becomes the world’s number one Vodka drink in 2033. It has raised questions since the advertisement has targeted popular culture and religion such as the baby boomers and the scientologists.

Some would think that’s all hype that Svedska has created to be popular may be a marketing ploy. But in itself, the Svedska is a great drink. Svedka is originally a Swedish Brand for Vodka and it was eventually acquired by Constellation Brands. The original owner, Spirits Marque One LLC created this vodka in 1998 and has swept the country by storm. US is particularly fond of this product as 60% of their products goes to this country. Constellation Brands acquired the brand in February 2007 with the hefty price of $384 Million.

There are currently four types of Svedka. Their difference is basically in the flavor and alcohol concentration. The original Svedka is 40% alcohol (80 proof) that uses fine Swedish Wheat. This type of Svedka was the Gold Medal winner in 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Citron type was made with Mexican limes and California Lemons. This was also awarded with a Silver Medal in the same competition that year. The Clementine flavor was mixed with tangerine that only comes from the best place tangerine has to come from: Sicily and Calabria. This flavor was the Gold Medalist in the same event in 2006. Svedka Raspberry is also a mix of the traditional Svedka flavor with Raspberry. Last but not the least is the Skedka Vanilla. Vanilla beans are integrated with Svedka flavor to achieve that sweet smell and at the same time heighten the taste of the popular Vodka. This was also a silver medalist in 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Each bottle of Svedka requires three pounds of wheat. The wheat goes through 40 hours of distilling before a perfect Svedka is created. Aside from the raw product, the Vodka is mixed with spring water.

Clearly Svedka is not only a hyped Vodka. With the number of medals of Svedka has achieved through the years, it has clearly becoming one of the best vodkas in the world. Svedka is regarded as a very strong drink with a deceptively smooth flavor. People have been trying out this product for years and since tasting its different flavors, it has become the favorite for most vodka drinkers. For some it may leave a hangover but it generally doesn’t have anything that goes with it. The price is surprisingly cheap compared to other high-end vodkas. So if you want to experience a great vodka without cashing out much, Svedka and its related products will give you a great vodka experience.
