Rankings are not always immediate. It probably requires an overnight batch run to update values, so the next day you would see a change, not always immediately. But points and ranks are just for fun anyway. It's no big deal. I can write a post that is several paragraphs long containing a great deal of useful information, and get one point for it. You can write a two word post like "I agree" and get one point for it. There's always going to be a disparity. Your posting 'reputation,' however, is more important. I would concenytrate on making useful posts and forget about 'rank.'
