I don't know if I missed it, but every time I make a post or new topic, I am awarded points. I was just wondering what the points system was all about really. Can anyone enlighten me? |

I just made a topic in the the "off-topic" section regarding this. Thank you for explaining this more thoroughly!

The point system is a measurement of your contributions to the site. You get a single point for a post. If you start a topic you get 3 points. If you upload an image or video or contribute a story you also get some points. Also, if someone uses your referral number to join, you get some points for that. See your own page (top right, click on your name) for the referral url. There is often a delay before rank is awarded, so you might not see a change until an overnight has run. Sometimes it is instant.
Points earn you 'rank' so that the more points you have the higher rank you earn. The ranks are military in nature and then run through important cabinet posts based on the US system. This site is not very busy, so obtaining rank is fast. The points system comes from the gunslot site and is probably more appropriate there. It takes a lot more points to earn a given rank on gunslot than it does here. Most of the ranks include a certain percentage of users, but the high ones are for the 1st highest number of pointsm second highest, etc. You, bubble, are already a General of the Army with a mere 16 points. On gunslot you'd prbably still be a private. You'd need thousands of points to be a five-star there.
The rank and points system is just kind of a fun thing. You don't get more points for a long thoughful post than you do for a single word reply, so it's not a measurement of effort that you put into the site. And you can't buy anything with points, so they have no real value. If this site gets going more than it is, the points system will recognize the heavy contributors with a higher rank.
